Commerce 3.7: Digital Wallets for Windcave
Aspenware is excited to offer support for digital wallet for Windcave payment gateway users. These improvements streamline credit card authorization, prevent issues from abandoned sessions, and introduce advanced tracking capabilities with Google Analytics 4. Additionally, adjustments have been made to better align with regional payment preferences, including the removal of Affirm support for Windcave resorts. Key updates include:
Enhanced Credit Card Processing with Windcave: Authorization / Void
Previously, Aspenware validated cards using the validate
API followed by the purchase
API, which prevented 3DS liability transfer without forcing a 3DS challenge for every transaction. With the new process, credit cards are authorized on the payment page, enabling 3DS liability transfer without mandatory challenges. This change also resolves the $0 transaction issue during 3DS challenges.
3DS Auto-Continue
Aspenware has added a new feature for resorts using Windcave as a payment gateway. Now, Windcave resorts that are also using 3DS will see the payment page auto-continue if all information on the page has been filled out and the 3DS process is approved.
Enhanced Windcave Authorization Security
Aspenware has added additional security to prevent stacked authorizations for resorts using the Windcave payment gateway. If a guest enters the payment step of checkout and enters payment information, then continues to the confirmation page, the authorization will be automatically voided after 30 minutes if the guest does not complete checkout. While resorts may increase this limit within the Windcave payment gateway configuration, according to business best practice, the minimum value must be 30 minutes. See the overall guide for the Windcave payment gateway (including digital wallets, Authorization, Void enhancements, and 3DS enhancements) for more information.
Improved Windcave Session Validation
Aspenware has enhanced the checkout session validation for Windcave. Guests can no longer complete payment successfully if they have started the payment step in another browser. If a customer has two browsers open, they must complete payment in the browser with the most recent payment added. If they try to complete payment in the browser with the older session they will be asked to re-enter their card.
Abandoned Session Timeout Setting
A new Windcave setting has been added to the admin configuration for Windcave. It allows resorts to specify when credit card authorizations should be voided, preventing stacked authorizations from abandoned sessions.
Google Analytics 4 Payment Tracking
The data layer now includes a new event (awc_payment_selection
) and parameter (payment_type
) for tracking payment method selection. See the Google Analytics Integration Guide for details.
Removal of Affirm Support for Windcave Resorts
Affirm is no longer supported for Windcave resorts due to its incompatibility with Australian citizens and the introduction of digital wallet support.
