Prerequisite Tasks

1. POS tasks to complete first

  • Confirm prompt code is valid in RTP|One.

  • If using RTPConnect to process orders, prompts cannot be set up as ‘required’ in RTP|One. If using Unity to process orders, prompts may be set up as ‘required’.

NOTE: It is recommended to save often by clicking Save and Continue Edit in the top menu bar. This will ensure your work is saved in the event you accidentally close or navigate away from the page.

1. Setting up Prompt Fields

  • Navigate to the Catalog>Attributes>Specification attributes page.

  • Click Add new in the top right corner.

    1. Enter “(Prompt name) [Custom] [Prompt] in the Name field, and click Save and Continue Edit.

    2. Click the Options tab.

    3. Click Add a new option and enter the prompt’s name/description in the Name field and click Save.

  • Navigate to Aspenware Commerce > Prompts and find the prompt created in the previous step.

  • Click Edit.

  • Update the following values, if needed:

    • Unity Code - The RTP|One prompt code

    • Description - The name of the prompt to appear during checkout

    • Prompt Group - Leave empty; this will be pre-populated for private lesson profile fields

    • Prompt Type - Select ‘String’ to prompt the user to enter a string value in a text box. Select ‘List’ to prompt the user to select from a drop-down list of predefined options.

      • If List is selected, enter the predefined options under List Options and click Add. These values can be moved up or down in the drop-down list or removed from the list. 

    • Display Order - The display order of the prompt in the checkout

    • Required - Check to make the prompt a required field for the customer to fill out during checkout. If unchecked, prompt entry will be optional.

2. Assigning Prompts to Products

  • Go to Catalog > Products and Search for the product that requires the checkout prompt.

  • Click Edit.

  • Scroll down to the Specification attributes tab on the Edit product details page.

  • Click Add attribute and select the desired prompt specification attribute from the Attribute dropdown.

  • Uncheck the Show on product page checkbox.

  • Click Add attribute.
