Common Troubleshooting: Categories
Q: My category is set up, but not functioning on our site.
A: Verify that “Allow customers to select page size” in your admin settings is unchecked, and that the page size is set to 20.
Categories will not function correctly if either of these settings are changed.
Q: My product is not showing up in my subcategory.
A: Often this happens when the product is assigned to the parent category instead of the subcategory. Go to catalog > products > your product in Aspenware Admininstration to ensure the product is assigned to the subcategory and NOT the parent category.
Q: How do I change the default category that appears on our shop page?
A: In Aspenware Commerce Admin, go to configuration > settings > all settings > search in the name field for: catalogsettings.defaultcategory. From here you can update the field with the SEO of the category you wish to make the default.
This will be the category featured on your landing page.
Q: Who is able to see hidden categories and how can they access them?
A: Unless the category is restricted to customer roles, anyone with the direct URL can access products within a hidden category. If the category is restricted to specific customer roles, then the product is only visible to those with an allowed customer role and the direct URL.
