The Voucher feature within Aspenware Commerce supports using payment value vouchers during the checkout flow as an additional payment type. Additionally, the newer Voucher Redemption plugin offers more robust voucher functionality including product voucher redemption directly from any page on a resort’s commerce site. Voucher Redemption supports the use of product vouchers, product/discount vouchers, and discount vouchers. This functionality is perfect for the redemption of Friends & Family tickets or Employee coupons.

This feature is supported for: Resorts using RTP|One as a POS

This feature is NOT supported for: Resorts using Siriusware as a POS

Key Terms

Discount Vouchers

These vouchers can apply to multiple products. An example of this would be “30% off an Adult or Child Lift Ticket.” The vouchers can only be used on one product and, if more than one product is added to the cart, they will not work. These are similar to a discount code, but discount codes are more robust. Consider whether it would better fit your needs to use a discount code instead of a discount voucher.

Fenced Products

A fenced product is a product that is only available through a special link that is accessed through a voucher. It’s hidden from the general public and only accessible to guests who have the voucher ID.

Payment Value Voucher

These vouchers are simply an alternate form of payment, like a gift card. An example would be if a resort offered all season pass holders $100 to apply to any purchase. This would simply take $100 off of whatever balance is in the guest’s cart. These types of vouchers do not require the voucher plugin.

Product Vouchers

This type of voucher is specific to only one specific product. An example of this type of voucher would be a Buddy Ski Pass. It applies only to the Buddy Ski Pass product and is fences, only accessed from the voucher.

Product/Discount Vouchers

These vouchers offer a discount that can be applied to only one specific product. An example of this would be a “20% Off a Ski Tune-Up.”

Feature Description

Aspenware Commerce supports using payment value vouchers during the checkout flow as an additional payment type. It also offers product voucher redemption directly from any page on a resort’s commerce site. It allows a variety of voucher types to be redeemed online using an installed banner widget which can be accessed from anywhere on a resort’s Commerce store. This functionality is perfect for the redemption of Friends & Family tickets or Employee coupons.

Any number of RTP|One Voucher Template IDs may then be added to the product (though they may not be used across several products). Once added, resorts may then activate the voucher banner that allows customers to validate and redeem their voucher IDs directly from the banner. In addition to preventing vouchers from being used more than once, product voucher pages are invisible and fenced from any guest without a valid voucher ID. Vouchers are deactivated upon complete order.

Voucher Redemption also includes functionality within the My Account voucher section. Guests are able to View/Print, Email or Redeem eligible vouchers from this page. These voucher CTAs can be displayed or hidden based on how the voucher product is configured in Administration.

Voucher Redemption gives the guest the ability to either email and/or redeem a product voucher via their My Account page. These features are configurable within the product voucher setup and resorts can select whether each voucher can be printed, emailed, and/or viewed. Selecting “redeem” from My Account validates the voucher and directs guests to a fenced PDP. There, guests can add their special product using their unique product voucher to the cart. Selecting “email” allows guests to enter an email address and share their voucher. The voucher email template (which is installed via the vouchers plugin) can be customized. Once received, guests can either copy-paste their received voucher ID into the resort’s voucher banner or redeem directly from the email by selecting the “redeem” button.
