Q: I’ve set up Google Analytics, but the data isn’t populating. What’s going on?
A: Make sure you’ve updated the GTM setting with the GTM ID and configured the link between GTM and GA using the tracking ID steps in the configuration guide. Usually, it’s just one of these little steps that’s missing.

A: First, there is likely a discrepancy between the time when your POS store closes each day and when Aspenware Commerce and Google Analytics close for the day. This can produce some slight discrepancies.
Second, according to our GTM specialist, Jay Pompar from Vickery Hill, some users block tracking, tracking can error out on occasions, or occasionally the tag doesn’t fire because of a glitch in the internet connection. All are possible reasons why GA will usually underreport transactions and revenue. He usually has a 5% acceptable discrepancy rate when looking at data, so if it is under 5%, he feels it is good enough to use for decision making.

Is there a way to track test and prod separately?
A: Yes. You need to create a separate GTM ID and GA account and set it up for test. Then, add the test GTM ID to your test site setting for the customer GTM setting. See the instructions in the configuration guide for more detail.
