Dollar-based Discount

Dollar-based discount codes take a specific dollar amount off the product price or the order total. For example, a discount code could offer guests $25 off a regular season lift ticket.

Flat-Rate Discount

Flat-rate discount codes apply a fixed price to eligible products. It will replace the price for eligible products regardless of the original price even if the product is dynamically price. For example, a resort could create a code that will make any March lift ticket $99, regardless of the dynamic price that displays.

Order Total Discount

An order total discount takes a specific dollar amount or a percentage off the shopping cart or order total. These can be restricted to the inclusion of certain products or add-on products in the shopping cart or can be applied to any cart total.

Percentage-based Discount

Percentage-based discount codes apply a specific percentage reduction off the product price or the order total.These can be restricted by quantity, by date, or by combination thereof. For example, a discount code could offer guests 20% off a regular season lift ticket.

Product Discount

A product discount takes a specific dollar amount or a percentage off a particular product or products that are placed in the shopping cart. These can be restricted by date, or in combination with other products or add-on products.

Feature Description

Aspenware Commerce includes a discount feature that enables resorts to configure discount codes that guests can enter in the store to receive discounts on Core products and Add-on products in their cart. Some features included with discount codes include:

  • Availability to all resorts, regardless of the POS being used

  • Code collection in the shopping cart

  • Shared, not unique, codes

  • Discount on a full-priced product rather than access to discounted or free “fenced products”

  • Shopping cart discount codes can have some restrictions placed on them such as maximum discount allowed, maximum or minimum number of quantities, or restrictions on the dates of product use

The most popular use of this feature is the application of discounts at the product level. Discounts can also be applied to products with pricing defined in the Dynamic Pricing plugin, or they can be applied at the order level (Siriusware POS only.) If a product has been assigned a discount, but its add-ons have not, only the core product will be discounted. The add-on can be discounted individually as well. The feature does not support the discounting of shipping fees or add-ons with attributes (ie: attributed add-ons).

The feature offers many options for discount configuration. Discounts can be set at a percentage off of the (e.g. 20% off March lift tickets) or at a fixed dollar amount off (e.g. $25 off March lift tickets) the product or order. Discounts can also be set at a flat rate for dynamically priced products and attributed products if a resort wanted to just offer a flat discounted price rather than a percentage or dollar amount reduction (e.g. All March lift tickets are $149.) Discount codes can also be set to expire or have a limited availability period (e.g. Discount code valid Black Friday only).

Discount codes are perfect if a resort would like to use a promotion code that is available to anyone or if they’d like to apply discounts globally without a code. If a resort desires a special discount code that is unique for a specific guest(s), varies by date, or applies to a fenced, restricted product, consider the following flexible pricing options instead of a discount code:

  • Dynamic pricing (discounted on specific days or days of the week and discount is available to everyone) See the Legacy documentation for configuration.

  • Fenced products using voucher/validated process (RTP|One users only.)
