This feature is supported for: All versions of Aspenware Commerce.

Key Terms

Product Detail Page

The page in Aspenware Commerce where guests select their attributes (age, number of days, etc.) and add to the cart for purchase.

Product Attributes Section

This is the section on the product editor page in the administration of Aspenware Commerce where product attributes are configured. There is an option to configure attributes for products and to view and edit the attribute combination table.

Product Attribute

Within Aspenware Commerce, this serves as the container for the attribute. Attributes enable an entity to vary offerings within a particular product based on criteria. We think of the Product Attribute as “the question” that will prompt an answer from the guest or the entity to further delineate the specific product purchased. An example would be ‘age on the date of purchase.’

Product Attribute Value

Within Aspenware Commerce, this serves as the container for the attribute value. Attribute values enable the guest or the entity to provide information that will enable them to delineate the specific product based on the attribute value criteria. We think of the Product Attribute Value as “the answer” that is provided to “the question” (Product Attribute.) For example, if “the question” is ‘age on date of purchase’ and the guest provides “the answer” of 10, then the guest would be able to purchase a 1-day lift ticket for a child as opposed to a 1-day lift ticket for an adult.

Product Attribute Combination Table

This is the table where attribute values are combined and mapped to their specific POS product and correct price.

  • Example: adult 1 day lift ticket = SKU (RTP|One product header code): 12345 | price: $25

  • Example: adult 2 day lift ticket = SKU (RTP|One product header code): 23456 | price: $50

Feature Description

Product Attribution is used to further delineate product offerings. A single product may have one or more product attributes and corresponding values. Attribute combinations can be used to associate Product Header Codes in RTP|One or Sirisware DCIs with variant-specific pricing (e.g. 1-day adult lift ticket.)

Take, for example, a single product in Aspenware Commerce that has been created for a Lift Ticket. This Lift Ticket product has the attributes ‘Age’ and ‘Number of Days.’ There are could be multiple attribute values for the ‘Age’ attribute such as Child, Adult, or Senior. There could also be multiple attribute values for ‘Number of Days’ such as 1-Day or 2-Day. Based on these values, these 6 possible combinations could be created for this product:

  • Child, 1-Day Lift Ticket

  • Child, 2-Day Lift Ticket

  • Adult, 1-Day Lift Ticket

  • Adult, 2-Day Lift Ticket

  • Senior, 1-Day Lift Ticket

  • Senior, 2-Day Lift Ticket

Each of these 6 attribute combinations can be assigned to a specific RTP|One Product Header Code or Siriusware DCI and have a unique price associated with it. This enables resorts to manage inventory and reporting for these products at a granular level.

On the store site, however, the guest only needs to navigate to a single Lift Ticket Product Detail Page (PDP) and make their attribute selections. The correct pricing will be displayed for the selected combination, and the associated POS code will be booked after checkout.

PDP, Cart/Checkout, & Email Confirmation Display

PDP

Depending on an attribute’s setup, the PDP will display an attribute in various ways. See screenshot and corresponding #'d descriptions below:

  1. Adding a description to an Attribute will show as HTML when the attribute’s Text prompt is not [Dynamic] nor [Add On]

  2. Separating Attribute Value text with a “|” will place the subsequent text on a lower line when the Control Type is not a Drop-down list

  3. Using the Control Type, “Drop-down list” will:

    1. Display the Attribute name once an attribute value is selected or if a pre-selected value is defined; when no value is selected the dropdown list and text above the box will appear as blank

    2. Keep text separated by a “|” on a single line

  4. Using the Text Prompt “[Add On]” will display the attribute in a grey box beneath “Upgrade your experience”

  5. Using the Text Prompt “[Dynamic]” will place the attribute in the box on the right side of the screen

Cart/Checkout

The shopping cart and checkout steps will display only the Attribute Value text preceding the “|”. Subsequent text will not show as part of the 'chip'.

Email Confirmation

Order confirmations will display both the Attribute name and the Attribute Value text preceding the “|”.
