Use Cases: Categories

Product categories are used to group products such as lift tickets or ski/snowboard lessons into a single page. This document outlines a number of use cases related to subcategories and hidden categories.

  • Utilizing subcategories to separate lesson types - Subcategories can be used to distinguish different ski/snowboard lesson types such as children’s lessons vs adult lessons, or winter lessons vs seasonal programs. The screenshots below show how a resort can utilize subcategories to delineate between different lesson types.

  • Internal testing using hidden categories - With hidden categories, resorts are able to hide testing products for team members to use in your live environment. These products are not directly accessible to the store or your customers, but team members are able to go directly to the product URL for testing.

  • Instructor tips - With hidden categories, resorts are able to have unique links for each instructor that will allow customers to tip your ski/snowboard instructors. By creating tipping “products” assigned to hidden categories, resorts are able to provide customers with links to instructor tipping pages.
