The Voucher feature within Aspenware Commerce supports using payment value vouchers during the checkout flow as an additional payment type. Additionally, the newer Voucher Redemption plugin offers more robust voucher functionality including product voucher redemption directly from any page on a resort’s commerce site. Voucher Redemption supports the use of product vouchers, product/discount vouchers, and discount vouchers. This functionality is perfect for the redemption of Friends & Family tickets or Employee coupons.

This feature is supported for: Resorts using RTP|One as a POS

This feature is NOT supported for: Resorts using Siriusware as a POS

Key Terms

Payment Value Vouchers

Payment value vouchers are codes in RTP|One that have a dollar value assigned to them. In Aspenware Commerce they behave as an alternate form of payment (like a gift card or stored value) that decrements when applied to an order total.

Fenced Products

A fenced product is a product that is only available to certain eligible shoppers. Voucher products are “fenced” through a special link that is accessed through a voucher. It is hidden from the general public and only accessible to guests who have an active voucher ID.

Product Voucher

A product voucher is used to give guests access to purchase a fenced product. Without a valid product voucher code, guests are unable to purchase the fenced product even if they manage to access it.

Discount Vouchers

Discount vouchers provide discounted pricing to standard products (not fenced) in Aspenware Commerce. Discount voucher templates can be set up to apply to a single or multiple products in Aspenware Commerce.

Product/Discount Vouchers

Product/discount vouchers are a combination of product vouchers and discount vouchers. If a guest has an active product/discount voucher, these vouchers provide access to fenced products and discount the total price of the product once added to cart.

Feature Description

Aspenware Commerce supports using payment value vouchers during the checkout flow as an additional payment type. It also offers redemption of product vouchers, discount vouchers, and product/discount vouchers through pre-checkout flows by validating product access and/or discount eligibility on specific products.

Voucher Use Examples

Payment Value Voucher

Redeemed during checkout by entering the voucher into the voucher box. It reduces the product price by subtracting value from the voucher.

Product Voucher

Redeemed pre-checkout by entering a valid voucher code into Aspenware Commerce, the guest is then directed to a fenced product.

Discount Voucher

Redeemed pre-checkout by entering a valid voucher code into Apenware Commerce, the guest then must manually navigate to an eligible discount voucher product and add it to their cart. The discounted price will only appear in the cart once the guest has added it to their cart.

NOTE: These products can also be purchased without entering a discount Voucher, in this case, the guest will be charged the full price.

Numerous products can be marked as eligible for a single Discount Voucher and additional rules for cart minimum/maximum amounts can also be defined allowing the resort more control over how these vouchers are utilized.

Product/Discount Voucher

Combines Product Vouchers and Discount Vouchers. These are redeemed pre-checkout by entering a valid voucher code into Aspenware Commerce, the guest is then automatically directed to the product. The discounted price will only appear in the cart once the guest has added it to their cart.

NOTE: While numerous products can be linked to a single discount template ID in the discount plugin, only a single product can be defined on the product.

NOTE: Recipient vouchers can be redeemed, but the recipient will not be enforced. If there is a recipient on the voucher, it will be ignored. A stored procedure can be created to gate usage to the customer assigned in RTP|One. Talk with your Aspenware Representative if you would like to consider this additional functionality. Professional Services fees will apply.

My Account - Voucher Page

Guests can access their Vouchers on the My Account page and can toggle between their “My Product Vouchers” and “My Other Vouchers” tabs.

My Product Vouchers Tab

On this screen, guests have the ability to view their Product Vouchers, Discount Vouchers, and Product/Discount Vouchers assigned to each member in their group.

NOTE: Vouchers will only appear here if the voucher is assigned to a product in Aspenware Commerce and it is set to active. In RTP|One vouchers with a current effective date or effective date in the future will display, vouchers that have expired will not display here. The three action buttons “View/Print”, “Email”, and “Redeem” can also be set to display or not display.

By clicking the “View/Print” the guest can see details on their voucher including the voucher name being obtained from RTP|One’s voucher Description, the voucher ID with a scannable barcode, the voucher expiration date from RTP|One’s expiration field, voucher specific information from RTP|One’s voucher Comment field, and terms and conditions text defined in Aspenware Commerce’s language strings. Guests can also optionally print the voucher using the Print Voucher button.

By clicking the “Email” button guests can email the product voucher code to any email, enabling other guests to redeem the voucher on Aspenware Commerce.

By clicking the “Redeem” button the voucher is checked for validity before redirecting the guest to the PDP where they can redeem the product associated with the product voucher.

My Other Vouchers Tab

The My Other Vouchers tab will display all vouchers for each group member that has an RTP|One Report defined on the Voucher Type and are not defined on a product in Aspenware Commerce.

NOTE: The only vouchers from this page that can be redeemed in Aspenware Commerce are Payment Value Vouchers which are redeemed in checkout. Vouchers that are not defined on a product in Aspenware Commerce and have a report defined on them in RTP, will display here even if they are not Payment Value Vouchers.

By clicking the “View/Print” button the guest can see details on their voucher including the voucher name (synced from RTP’s voucher description field), the voucher ID with a scannable barcode, the value remaining on the voucher, the voucher expiration date, voucher specific information (synced from RTP’s comment field), and terms and conditions text defined in Aspenware Commerce language strings. Guests can also optionally print the voucher using the “Print Voucher” button.

By clicking “Show Inactive Vouchers” guests can see inactive Vouchers still on their accounts in RTP|One.

Redemption Flow - Payment Value Vouchers

Guests will redeem payment value vouchers on the checkout payment screen. The voucher code is entered into the voucher box and the order total will be subtracted from the available voucher balance. If the voucher value is greater than the order total, then the order total will be subtracted from the voucher amount and the order total will be $0. If the order total is greater than the voucher value then the entire amount of the voucher will be subtracted from the order and the guest will need to apply additional payment methods to complete their transaction. The voucher value will not be redeemed from RTP|One until the order is submitted successfully to RTP|One.

NOTE: Only payment value vouchers are redeemed during checkout. Other voucher types defined in this documentation are redeemed in a separate flow defined in the next redemption section below.

Redemption Flows - Product Vouchers, Discount Vouchers, and Product/Discount Vouchers

These voucher types share several flows to validate and navigate guests to the Voucher Product’s PDP:

1. My Account Page: If enabled, the guest can navigate My Account’s Voucher page and click the “Redeem” button, then a pop-up will appear and if the voucher is valid the guest can click the “Redeem Voucher” button which will direct the guest to the voucher product’s PDP.

2. Voucher Banner: If enabled guests can input the voucher code into the voucher banner and click the “Confirm Voucher” button, a pop-up will appear and if the voucher is valid the guest can click “Redeem Voucher” which will direct the guest to the voucher product’s PDP.

3. Voucher URL: If enabled guests can be provided a link to a voucher redemption page to input their voucher code, once the code is input the guest can click the “Validate” button and a pop-up will appear. If the voucher is valid the guest can click “Redeem Voucher” which will direct the guest to the voucher product’s PDP.

NOTE: See the section below for completing redemption once on the PDP. Also, the voucher will not be considered redeemed until the order has been completed in RTP|One.

Fenced Product PDP - Product Voucher, Discount Voucher, and Product/Discount Voucher

Once a guest has validated their voucher and the voucher redemption flow has redirected the guest to the voucher product’s PDP, the guest’s voucher ID will display in the voucher ID box and the guest can add the product to their cart to complete checkout. If a guest is able to navigate to the PDP without completing one of the voucher redemption flows, they will not be able to add the product to their cart.

NOTES: Guests will not be able to add products to their cart from this screen unless they have followed one of the three redemption flows outlined above (since the Voucher ID box on the PDP is a display-only field, it is not an entry field and cannot be edited). Also, if the guest is looking to use multiple vouchers at a time then the guest will need to repeat one of the three redemptions flows for every voucher they would like to redeem.

After the guest has added the product to their cart they will be able to complete checkout.

NOTE: The voucher will not be redeemed from RTP|One until the order is submitted successfully to RTP|One.

Invalid Voucher Messaging - Payment Value Vouchers

If a guest tries to redeem a voucher in checkout that is invalid (being expired, the value is depleted, etc), messaging is displayed notifying the guest that the voucher cannot be used.

Invalid Voucher Messaging - Product Vouchers, Discount Vouchers, and Product/Discount Vouchers

If a guest tries to redeem a voucher prior to the voucher’s effective date or after the voucher’s expiration date, the guest will not be able to use the voucher and an “Invalid date” message will display. If a guest attempts to redeem a voucher that has already been used an “Already Used” message will display.
