Overview

Are you considering selling gift cards online and want to charge a shipping fee? Use the Considerations and Examples sections below to help plan the best option for your resort.

Considerations

Below are important considerations to make prior to creating program products:

  1. Retail product

Likely the best option. If we set this up as a retail product the PDP looks a little different (see Abasin HERE) but we are able to charge the guest only 1 shipping fee no matter how many gift cards are in their cart. This would also be beneficial to have configured if you ever decide to sell retail products online in the future.

  1. Per Product Fee

See example product in your Test site HERE. The guest would be charged the shipping fee for every gift card to be shipped. They could also add some gift cards to be shipped and some to be picked up.

  1. Condition Product

This would use conditions on the PDP and cascade down a series of questions:

  1. “How many gift cards for purchase?”

“What value should each gift card be?”

    “Pickup or ship?”

It’s a lot more build in Admin, and not as clean of a guest experience on the PDP. I wouldn’t recommend this, but it would work to enable guests to purchase multiple gift cards in one order and only be charged a single shipping fee.

A few more notes:

  • I would recommend setting up gift card products with Guest Checkout enabled

Only one shipping destination can be input per order

Retail setup will take some more time to implement so if that is desired we should plan additional time to configure that

Examples

Below are some examples that resorts have used in their environments:

Alyeska Example

  • Guest has option to all start-dates that still have available inventory

  • The Long description provides details for the camp dates

  • Optional add-ons

  • No labels
