Many ski products must be assigned to a contact so that information required when fulfilling that product for the guest can be properly stored and captured. When a product is assigned age rules can be enforced, waivers can be captured, profile information can be stored, and more.

This feature is supported for: All products sold through Aspenware Commerce can be set up to require assignment.

  • Any product that requires age rules validation, media/reload assignment, waivers, child registration, and rental profile capture must be set up to require assignment.

Requires Assignment (On Core Product)

Any ski product can be configured to require assignment, meaning that an eligible guest is attached to the product as part of the shopping and/or checkout flow. Most ski products are setup to require assignment. Typically, for a core product that has add ons booked as part of the product “package,” the core product and add-on products should all be assigned to the same customer, so the assignment is only asked for on the core product, and it is inherited by the add on products as well. This inheritance can be broken however, and an add-on product can be setup to be assigned to a separate user when this configuration is desired (see below).

Requires Add-On Assignment

If an add-on product should be assigned to a separate guest from the core product assignment, like in a kids ski free add on example, this configuration is supported. In order for an add on product to be assigned to a separate person from the core product, the add-on product must have the “Requires Add-On Assignment” product classification. When setup this way, guests who are uniquely assigned to the add-on product can be required to sign waivers, fill out profiles, meet age restrictions, and complete additional tasks that are necessary for that add-on product fulfillment.

Assignment on the PDP

Products can be configured to display the household module to logged in guests, which can be used to assign household members to products, grouping the assigned products under their name in the cart prior to checkout.

Assignment in Checkout

Most product assignment is completed on the first step of checkout. Within this “Assign Products” checkout step, guests can view existing and create new members of their household and assign household members to products they are eligible in the cart. Some assignments that may have been done on the product detail page (PDP) will be remembered on this step and can be altered in most cases.

Assignment Validated Prompt

A validated prompt can be used to fence special/discounted product purchases to only “eligible” members, and this eligibility is based on customized rules that are configured in an RTP|ONE validated prompt (this not currently supported for Sirisuware). Validated prompts are typically used to enforce that a guest previously purchased product N. Some validated prompts require a guest to enter a code and click “Validate,” which “checks” their eligibility, but validated prompts that are setup to “Validate on Assignment” take the leg work away from the guest and check guest eligibility on the assignment of the product - only allowing “eligible” guests to be assigned. This eligibility fencing is supported for both Assignment on the PDP and Assignment in Checkout.

Renewal Lock Assignment

Renewal products, most often used for renewing pass holders, are sold via a flow that only allows customers and members of their group/family to see or be able to add renewal products to their cart if they have previously purchased specific access product components. When renewal products are added to cart, they are automatically assigned to the eligible household member and the assignment is “locked,” meaning it cannot be altered in checkout. This is to prevent non-eligible guests from getting renewal products. Renewal products are only supported for RTP|ONE and are not currently available for Siriusware.

Product assignment is often required for ski products, and in Aspenware Commerce, this assignment step can be done at several points throughout the shopping and checkout flow that it feels organic to the shopping experience.

Assignment can be done on the product detail page if a guest is logged in.

Assignment can be done on the first step of checkout.

Assignment can be restricted so that only guests that are an eligible age or meet other product eligibility requirements can be assigned.

Renewal products are set up so that assignment is automatically set and cannot be changed in checkout. In this case assignment can be “locked.”
