One resort realized the value of their college students, who, may not be made of cash, but do have a lot of influence. They enabled a group of college students to be pass evangelists by giving each “college rep” a unique promo code to share with their friends. The more their unique code was used, the bigger the discount that “college rep” received for his or her own pass.  

 

Window Rate Discount

With all the advanced pricing for lift tickets, it can be difficult to stomach offering additional discounts off the already aggressive discounts offered online. Another resort wanted to offer discounts on lift tickets, but only on their window rates. They created a special window rate lift ticket product, priced at the window rate as a separate product from their regular online lift ticket product. Then they set up desired promo codes and only assigned the codes to the window rate priced product and not the online rate product.

Season Pass Loyalty

For the 20/21 season, a resort using Siriusware as their POS, offered prior pass holders a loyalty single-use dollar-amount discount to use towards their purchase of their 20/21 seasons pass. They worked with Aspenware’s service team to script unique discount codes that had varying amounts and rules, based on the previous season’s “pass level.” Appropriate discount codes were then emailed to 19/20 season passholders and could only be applied to carts that had 20/21 seasons pass products of equal or greater value of their prior pass.

Mid-week Friends and Family

A few resorts have offered discount codes to passholders to buy tickets for their friends that only apply to mid-week days. There are two possible implementations for this option:

  • Option 1: Passholders can be given a discount code that is set up to only apply to a regular ticket on certain days.

  • Option 2: A special product could be created that is only visible to people with a passholder role that has pre-discounted pricing or a has a discount that doesn’t require code entry that is only applied to certain days – this would require keeping the pricing updated on two products but would be more restricted so that only passholders who are logged in could see these products.

  • Loyalty Reward: Offer loyal guests a limited time use promo code when tickets first go on sale. These promo codes can be restricted by dates, quantity, and/or product.

  • Upsell Advance Buyers: Upsell day-ticket guests who buy in advance by sending out a limited-time use promo code for kids lessons in their email confirmation only valid to use for purchase from October through season start.

  • Season Pass Holder Benefit: Reward season pass holders by sending them a set of single-use promo codes to get discounted lockers, parking passes, and local programs in their order confirmation.

  • Payment Plan Payoff Reward: Offer single-use promo code for free or discounted lift tickets upon on-time payment plan completion or for guests who pay early using Aspenware Payment Plans "Pay Now" option.

  • Add-on Discount: Offer promo codes for add-on products when a season pass is purchased.
