A:  Don’t assign to customers one by one, manually in NOP. You should be assigning the roles only in RTP and then in NOP if you/customer/tester logs out of NOP and back in, then you have the Role from RTP.

customer doesn’t automatically have the role in Aspenware Commerce

A:  Customer roles in Aspenware Commerce are granted upon customer login, so if a customer is logged in when the GPP is updated in RTP, ask the customer to log out and back in and they should have the role going forward on their profile!

Q: Can family members purchase without a customer role?

A: Customer roles will restrict the visibility of a category and/or product based on the signed-in user.  So if the family members do not have the role, they will be able to purchase the product only if the signed-in user has the role. However to gate it further to only allow assignment of eligible guests, couple customer  customer roles with a validated procedure in RTP|One. In this case, only the eligible user will be able to be assigned to the product and checkout with it.

Q: Can resorts use customer roles and hidden categories to "fence off" products that are in testing and not ready to be guest-facing?

A: Yes, this is a great use of customer roles. Assign the admin customer roles to categories or products that you don't want publicly accessible, and only admins will be able to purchase/shop for pre-released products to test them in live.
