Age Range TypeDefines the date that an Age Range is calculated from to compare the customer’s age to the required age range. For example if the Age Range Type is a fixed date and set to 1/1/2021, the Age Ranges that use this Type would calculate the min and max age as of Jan 1, 2021. Age Range Types can be a fixed date or dynamic, the dynamic options are Trip Start (product date) and Today’s date (purchase date) and these only need be be configured once. If an Age Range is set to use the Trip Start Type for example, it would calculate the min and max age as of the product date they select. Age RangeA rule that combines a minimum age, maximum age, and Age Range Type (see above). An example of an age range would be 6 - 12 as of purchase date. Once created, an age range can be assigned to products and product variants (attributes) to limit assignment, so that product assignment can be limited to only people whose birthdates are within the rule. |
Feature Description
It’s common for resorts to offer product variations that are sold at different prices based on a guest’s age. Lift tickets, season passes, lessons, and other products are often priced differently within age ranges to maximize sales and increase revenue for resorts. Because of this, resorts need the ability to allow guests within a specified age range to buy a particular product; while blocking guests outside of that age range from purchasing that samer same product. With Aspenware’s Age Range feature you can easily create rules to accomplish this.
As a guest logs in to Aspenware Commerce, the guest and their Household information from RTP is populated into Aspenwarehousehold information will be synced in real time and kept up to date. With this information from RTPthe POS, and by utilizing Age Range rules in Aspenware Commerce, a resort has the ability to define which existing and new guests in their household can be assigned a product during the purchase flow.

The feature has the capability to set age ranges in whole values to determine if a guest's age should allow them to be assigned to a product and age validation can be calculated based on:
Sale date: the date the guest is completing their transaction online.
Example: is the guest 18 at the time of purchase?
Product’s start date:the date the guest’s purchased item is being redeemed, also known as the product date.
Example: is will the guest be 18 when they will show up for their activity?
Age as of a a specified date: a specified date such as 1/1/2021. This is often used for season pass purchases and calculated as of the season start date.
Example: is the guest 18 as of a specified future or past date?
By utilizing this feature, resorts have control of over which guests can be assigned to a product based on an age range. In turn, this will promote increased sales, increased revenue, and reduces the ability for guests to fraudulently purchase cheaper products not within for which they are not eligible, based on their age range.
