Renewal Product

A fenced product that is only offered to a guest who has purchased a previous access product, product eligibility is designated in the product component link area of RTP|One.

Product component linking is a feature in RTP|One that Aspenware Commerce leverages logic from to display fenced renewal products to eligbile guests, which links an access product component from a previous season to product header(s) for an upcoming or the current season. This setup is most commonly used for season pass renewals.

Feature Description

Linked products, most often used for renewal passes, are sold via a flow that only allows customers and members of their group/family to see or be able to add renewal products to their cart if they have previously purchased specific access product components. In order for renewal functionality to work, Linked Product Component Codes must be set up in RTP|One, linking the previous year’s access components to the current or upcoming year’s product headers.

Once RTP|One product component link setup and Aspenware Commerce configuration is complete, a customer who had purchased a pass access product component in the past will be able to buy “renewal” products on the online store from a restricted page.

Only logged in and eligible members can complete a renewal purchase, so a banner prompting non-logged in guests to log in to renew can be setup. The banner below displays a dynamic message that updates when a guest logs in.

...

Once a guest is logged in, the banner language changes to link to the renewal area, from where renewal products can be added to the cart for the entire family.

...

A customer who is eligible for a renewal product will only be able to add it to their cart with the product assigned to the eligible customer.

...

The guest with the linked or “renewal” product assigned to them will not be able to re-assign renewal products to someone else in their group.

...

Customers who are not eligible to buy renewal products will be blocked from being able to access and add these linked products to their cart. The image below shows the display when some members in the family are eligible to renew, but others are not.
