Detailed Setup Guide

  1. Create Tax Rules

  2. Create Tax Settings

  3. Apply Tax Setting to Products

1. Create Tax Rules

This step configures whether the store will use and display inclusive tax or exclusive tax across the store.

Info

NOTE: An online store can only display inclusive or exclusive tax to customers and doesn’t support displaying tax for both products with inclusive tax and exclusive tax. If both tax types (inclusive and exclusive) are required, it is recommended to set up the store for exclusive tax and to price products that are inclusive of tax with inclusive tax in RTP|One only. In this scenario, exclusive tax will be calculated and displayed to the customer in the online store, but products with inclusive tax will not show the inclusive tax on the shop.

Determine which of the following two options are desired for your store:

  1. Exclusive Tax: Exclusive tax amount is available for display in the cart, checkout and confirmation pages and email. The order total is the sum of the subtotal and tax on the order.

  2. Inclusive Tax: Inclusive tax amount is available for display in the cart, checkout and confirmation pages and email. The order total is the sum of the subtotal and the tax on the order included in the price of the products.

  • Go to Configuration > Settings > Tax Settings

  • On the Tax settings page, scroll down to the Tax Displaying tab.

    1. To setup exclusive tax, enter the following:

      1. Allow customers to select tax display type: Uncheck

Note

IMPORTANT: The RTP|One administrator must also configure taxes by shipping location in RTP|One, and each region, province/state, or postal code must match the tax rates you configure in Aspenware Commerce.

  • START WORK HERE!! Add the applicable tax to all taxable products in your store. For example, if lift, lesson, and pass products all carry a tax rate of 5%, and rental products are taxed at 12%, you need to configure two taxes and assign the 5% tax to lift, lesson, and pass products, and the 12% tax to rental products.

    1. The corresponding products in RTP or Siriusware must also be configured with only one tax, at the matching rate. For the example above, the lift product component in RTP and DCI in Siriusware must have a tax of 5%. The rental product component/DCI must have a tax of 12%.

    2. For more information on general tax configuration for RTP|ONE, see the Tax topics in RTP Configuration Documentation. For more information on general tax configuration for Siriuware, see the Tax topics in Siriusware Configuration Documentation

Info

NOTE: Aspenware Commerce supports one tax per product, so ensure you have one tax rate configured for all your applicable tax rates for each product type.
