Categories will not function correctly if either of these settings are changed.

Q: My product is not showing up in my subcategory.

A: Often this happens when the product is assigned to the parent category instead of the subcategory. Go to catalog > products > your product in aspenware admin to ensure the product is assigned to the subcategory and NOT the parent category.

A: ​In Aspenware Commerce Admin, go to configuration > settings > all settings > search in the name field for: catalogsettings.defaultcategory. From here you can update the field with the SEO of the category you wish to make the default.

This will be the category featured on your landing page.

Q: Who is able to see hidden categories and how can they access them?

A: Unless the category is restricted to customer roles, anyone with the direct URL can access products within a hidden category. If the category is restricted to specific customer roles, then the product is only visible to those with an allowed customer role and the direct URL.
